Chinua Achebe(16 November 1930 – 22 March 2013) was a Nigerian novelist,poet, professor, and critic who was famously called "the father of modern African writing"
He was best known for his first novel Things Fall Apart (1958), which is said to be the most widely read book in Modern African Literature.
His later novels include No Longer at Ease (1960), Arrow of God (1964), A Man of the People (1966), and Anthills of the Savannah(1987).
His Latest Book released in 2012 "There was a Country" a personal memoir of the Biafran war was released amid controversy .Some of his awards include Man Booker International Prize, Peace Prize of the German Book Trade, St. Louis Literary Award.
He was a force to be reckoned with.
